NDA Foundation Course

NDA Entrance Test Information

The National Defence Academy (NDA) entrance test is conducted twice annually, known as NDA-I and NDA-II.

NDA-I:

  • Notification Release: January

  • Exam Date: April

 

NDA-II:

  • Notification Release: June

  • Exam Date: September

 

Application Process: The NDA application form consists of two parts. Interested candidates can apply online through the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) official website: http://www.upsconline.nic.in.

Eligibility Criteria for NDA Entrance Test

​

Nationality:

A candidate must be an unmarried male or female and must meet one of the following criteria:

  • A citizen of India, or

  • A subject of Nepal, or

  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or

  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, and East African countries such as Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Note: Candidates belonging to categories (ii), (iii), and (iv) above must have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India. However, Gorkha subjects of Nepal do not require this certificate.

Age Limit, Sex, and Marital Status

​

Only unmarried male and female candidates between the ages of 16½ and 19½ can apply for the NDA.

 

Educational Qualification

​

  • For the Army Wing:

    • 12th pass of the 10+2 pattern of school education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

  • For the Air Force and Navy Wings:

    • 12th pass of the 10+2 pattern of school education or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

Note: Candidates appearing in the 12th class under the 10+2 pattern of school education or equivalent examination can also apply.

Physical and Medical Standards

​

Candidates must be physically and mentally fit according to the prescribed physical standards and guidelines provided in the notification. To be considered ‘Medically Fit’, candidates must be in good physical and mental health, free from any disease, syndrome, or disability that may interfere with the efficient performance of military duties in any terrain, climate, or season, including sea and air, in remote areas, and in austere conditions without medical aid. Candidates should also be free from medical conditions that require frequent visits to medical facilities or the use of any aids or drugs.

 

Disqualification

​

Candidates who have resigned or withdrawn on disciplinary grounds from any of the training academies of the Armed Forces are not eligible to apply.
